About Us

The Literacy Council offers free tutoring to adult clients in Carroll County and surrounding areas.

Our clients are adults who want to:

  • Improve their reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Learn English or improve their current English skills.
  • Prepare for citizenship.
  • Further develop workforce skills or life skills.

Programs

Get Involved

Volunteering at the Literacy Council is fun, rewarding, and flexible.  With opportunities ranging from one to two hours a year to a regular weekly commitment, there are many options to fit your schedule. As a small non-profit, volunteers are essential to the success of our programs, so your efforts make a real impact on the local community. Whether you want to utilize a current skill or learn something new, we look forward to having you join our volunteer crew.
