Tutors at the Literacy Council may vary in age, race, and religion, but there is one thing they all share in common — they find happiness in helping others.

The Literacy Council provides tutor training workshops at least twice a year. When the need arises we provide training more than twice a year. Workshops are usually scheduled in October and April.  Other workshops may be scheduled as the need arises.

Typically training takes place over a one or two day period.  The first day is a Saturday and runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with an hour lunch break midday.  The training covers techniques in adult one-on-one tutoring and the Laubach Way to Reading Program.

A second session may follow on a weeknight starting at 5:30 PM for additional or make-up material, if needed.

The Literacy Council provides all training material.
